This wolf first appeared to me in a dream in 2022. A bear was coming for me and I was pacing. As I stood in this dream realm frozen with fear I turned and was met by a lone grey wolf. We stared into each others eyes and the wolf transmitted a message, she said, "I am going to teach you how to not be afraid" and I awoke. A year later a love would enter my life with great teachings about fear, and of course tattoo'd upon his entire torso, the wolf. That message stayed with me, wolf energy becoming a guide in many moments where I found myself standing at the edge of the unknown, teaching me how to navigate uncertainty and let go of the fear.

A wildness and bravery that encourages leaps into exploration of life. In some seasons we are the lone wolf, in some seasons we are surrounded by the energy of the pack. 

The soft gaze of this wolf carries these teaching. Surrounded by swirling currents of color and hidden eyes, it invites courage, trust, and a deeper connection to your own inner wisdom.

I began this painting shortly after making the leap from a stable career into life as a full-time artist. As I faced my fears and followed my path, unexpected opportunities began to unfold including invitations to live paint this piece during the music medicine performances of Yaima and Snow Raven, artists whose work embodies remembrance, wildness, and the courage to walk into mystery. Pictured here, I began this piece inside of a fairy ring in Southern California, the residence on the land stopped by to note that they thought it was brave of me to engage with the fae, I giggled at their trepidation, the wolf with me. 

This piece carries the energy of those experiences. It is a reminder that fear often guards the doorway to our greatest growth, and that when we move forward anyway, life has a way of meeting us with magick, support, and possibility.
