In the center of this painting there was a mask that unraveled in the process - I painted over it, telling a new story. 

Layers and layers of pretense and conditioning have been revealed to me lately. 

It’s been unsettling, disorienting & profound. 

How many masks are we all wearing? 

Some times I don’t feel like smiling. 

I am meeting more and more of the core of me and I’d like you to meet me too.

& now, as I share this, I am laying in a beautiful forest on the Washington Peninsula, moments away from turning off my phone for a retreat I am participating in.

To me, the edge is where the image refuses to stop at the border. It asks us to look beyond what is immediately visible and to consider what exists just outside our field of view.

Painting the edges is my way of reminding us that expansion happens when we move past the frame, past the limits of what we think we know. The edges reflect our own process of meeting ourselves beyond comfort zones, in the places where growth, change, and possibility live.
